Welcome to the Basic Interpretation Course of the English Education Department. This is a compulsory course that must be taken by sixth-semester students. This course provides you with the materials dealing with how to introduce the students to English interpretation. This course aims to equip the students with basic theories of English interpretation, the skills for being an English interpreter, and the strategy of how to be a good English interpreter. The learning materials the history of interpretation, the differences of interpreting and translation, cultural factors in interpreting, the concept of interpreter roles, code of ethics in interpreting, consecutive interpreting, simultaneous interpreting, the sight translation mode, the concept of note-taking, and practicing note-taking, the setting of interpreting, and the quality of interpreting.
